Finito Friday

#Finito Friday - our Red Thread community takes time to share Ta-das and finished projects!

A big one is celebrating the graduation of extension or Muse Time students from their Color of Woman teacher training! So proud of these gals for their dedication and wonderful peer support - Congratulations!

Color of Woman graduates
One of the final alignments is teaching a longer painting class - traditionally two days when offered in person. At the beginning of February, Heather Jackson and Rowan collaborated to offer "Queen of Your Heart" to an online group which included several of their sister students. I joined them for a potent day of painting and inquiry.
We accomplished a lot in 6.5 hours! I love Heather's Zentangle "Diva Dance" rose, which overlaid the spiral is done in her throat -vortex of the empowered voice ....
"From deep in the sea, and long ago/in the future.  Song under the stars and drink deep from wisdom's well
"Sing with the ancestors
"Swim with dolphins, and meet octopus in the nest of your open heart."

Awaken in the
Mystery - hear her calling?
Her voice, her presence

Sacred breath beckons
Treasure so vital, precious
Queen of deep water.

She's rather fierce! I look forward to future offerings from these sisters - we've built a sweet international community, and plan to continue meeting to share inspiration and creative offerings.

I've been enjoying experiments with Oil Pastels, after seeing some lovely ones on Instagram. Checking on YouTube, I discovered shine fun ones tutorials with Black Bean, and playing with his "scritchy scritchy" mark making! (Using Dollar store screwdrivers!)

My sets are all inexpensive ones I've had for awhile or been gifted ...
Thinking of investing in some higher quality crayons, Neocolor and Sennelier are some of those suggested  ...
Update - I got the set of 24 creamy Sennelier oil pastels ....

This article gives an overview of the suggested brands and qualities. I used my harder oil pastels for the details.

Happy Paint Party Friday - what mediums or tools are you exploring?

Gratitude and Vivid

This week our creativity community is engaged in a week of journaling, painting, and lots of opportunities to connect, led by different constellations of SiStars, in a gathering called VIVID.

Cup of Creativi-tea

I'm distant learning aide for my Grands, so I've been participating sporadically, and poking along with the painting ("there's no behind!") We began Sunday creating new Cosmic Smashbooks with the Creatrix Catt Geller

The day culminated with the graduation ceremony for the Color of Woman Class of 2020 - what a year for it!!  I am so proud off this amazing group of women who persevered and completed the quest, and those who took extensions and will be continuing on Muse Time! I am a behind the scenes support for these gals, as they move at their own rate, bringing them hummingbird medicine.

I've also been creating Neurographic doodles, and an engaged in a Gratitude practice. Developed by a Russian psychologist, Pavel Piskerev. I am reminded of our Metacognative drawings, and interested to see how the two will interface.

Gratitude practice, Day 1
  • This week of Vivid
  • Spending time with my Grands
  • The return of a couple of bodywork clients
Gratitude #1 + Joy Rebels

Yesterday we had a session with one of my CoW classmates, Katherine Whiteman and her daughter Katie (18) who graduated the next year, and is our youngest EC teacher! They led a wonderful session in finding joy - Joy Rebels!

Day 2
I am grateful for
  •  my basically good childhood (50s-60s)with a stay at home, well educated, curious mom
  •  a good, hard working, involved dad
  •  Lots of time in nature, camping, riding the neighbors' horses, just playing!
Gratitude
I look forward to getting back to my painting panel, and meet my MYSTIC legendary lady.

Codes and Codecies

I've been in the Atelier this week, which also marked my birthday! This time last week, I was in the mountains with my daughter's family and our friend Monika with her younger kids - a wonderful end of summer camping trip before the kids headed back to school. Then we made a visit to the ocean for sun on the beach, and several yummy BD meals ...

The Apothecary journey was again powerful, and it was an honor to hold space in the virtual classroom with several SiStars, as we watched the work unfold. My vessels are bubbling away... More to come! My friend Sherry and I intend to offer an in person event within the next few months.
Apothecary Medicine Painting
Last fall our intentional creativity community began a 13 Moon painting journey called CODEX, which began with journal prompts and a big canvas. After "awhile" away, I brought mine back to the easel yesterday, brought in more symbols and energy codes.
Do you get distracted, and wonder where the time went? Guilty! But "there's no behind," ... Just different process!
I've been shepherding a group of SiStars on the Color of Woman journey In years past, who are in "Muse Time" as they compete their quests, and am so pleased that several have competed their initiate books, and graduated from the training!
CODEX - in process
I've begun doing more coaching, and a few weeks ago I had an individual painting session with a nearby SiStar. We were both pleased with our inspiring time together. I love this process of each doing our own work, and bring forth our own symbols and images! Our session was only 4 hours, and I've spent more time with mine since.

My Demo

Muse of Creativity
My friend Margot and I are planning our fall workshop in her studio, set for the second weekend in November. I'd love and SiStars in Oregon to join us!

What's in your cup, and on your easel?
Happy Paint Party Friday!
